In Europe the
fashion coffee had its climax in the
700th.
This was
originated by the Venetian merchants who
introduced coffee in 1615 for the first
time in Europe using tower that united the
East with Venice and Naples. The man who
was the author of this spread was Prospero
Alpini, a man of science.
The first city
that experienced the aroma of coffee was
Venice, after this it spread into all
other Italian cities.
Initially,
however, the product was imported in
quantities of scarce and therefore very
high prices. So it was not possible to
take advantage of its digestive properties
and medicine.
This shortage was
overcome when I started to arise early
coffee, like the Caffe¨ Florian in
Venice.
In addition a
further impetus to the spread of this
beverage was also the birth date of the
magazine "Il Caffe".
The founders were members of a circle
Lombard led by Pietro Verri. In Italy, the
coffee was even used as a gift, was also
introduced the custom of offering trays
filled with coffee and chocolate for
love.
With regard to the religious scene,
several priests were initially opposed to
the spread of this drink and got pressure
on the pope because the declaration of the
demon drink.
The pope Clement VIII, however, first to
ban it, wanted to use try it. He was very
impressed and excited that even baptized
as a Christian beverage.
At the end of six 600 coffee drinking
increases day by day both in Venice and in
all other cities of the peninsula.
Quote from the Coffee Grego, Pedrocchi and
San Carlo. These premises acquired the
name of their most important intellectual
and habitual visitors.
Through this became famous places, and
people even came from out of town to
visit. As to the first machine
of espresso there are many
versions of history, even legends. The
pioneers of Espresso personality are
described as inventive, people with
business sense and knowledge engineering,
genes drawn to the progress and ready to
take risks, or sometimes simply people
with a great sense that he had a sudden
inspiration.
Lavazza, the
company conducted a study on this subject
and discovered that the person that
changed radically the usage and how to
make coffee was Luigi Bezzera. Indeed in
1903 he was the first engineer from Milan
to design and patented the first espresso
machine in service. This machine was a
device made of brass chrome, a column of
cylindrical shape and with a boiler that
worked with a gas cooker.
Exploiting the pressure of boiling water,
is obtained by its passage in the filter,
a small dose of coffee concentrate, making
full use of the powder tablet.
Certainly offered
a faster way of preparation which was used
to serve from time to time the necessary
quantity of beverage to customers while
preserving all the features of the coffee.
The problem is that this was not
understood by contemporary people, and
therefore not widespread. The various
economic Bezzerra problems forced him to
sell the patent to Desiderio Pavoni in
1905 in a small workshop in Via Parini,
began producing espresso machines in
series.
A few years later
Giuseppe Cimbali began to realize in his
workshop for mechanical components to
manufacturers of espresso machines. After
the spread of espresso machines began to
distinguish the coffee made at home with
the pot, the coffee made with coffee at
the espresso machine in preference to the
first more since it is denser, stronger
and more aromatic.
