Variations
of Italian Espresso Coffee
There are many
variations of coffee. Some of the most
popular are:
Affogato:
Espresso served over gelato.
Americano: Espresso and hot
water
Black eye: A cup of drip coffee with
two shots of espresso in it.
Bombón: Espresso served with
condensed milk.
Breve: Espresso with half-and-half.
Carajillo: Espresso with a shot of
brandy
Cappuccino: One-third espresso,
one-third steamed milk, and one-third
microfoam.
Corretto: coffee with a shot of
liquor, usually grappa or brandy.
Con hielo: Espresso with sugar
immediately poured over two ice cubes.
Doppio: Double shot of espresso.
Espresso con Panna: Espresso with
whipped cream on top.
Caffè Latte: coffee with
milk.
Latte macchiato: Essentially an
inverted cafè latte
Lungo: More water
Caffè Macchiato: A small
amount of milk.
Mocha: A latte blended with
chocolate.
Ristretto: with less water.
Solo: Single shot of espresso.
